The Atlas Mountains, the Atlas massif or simply Atlas is a mountain system that runs, along 2,400 km, northwest Africa. The mountain range runs through Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, the highest peak is Toubkal, with 4,165m, to the southwest of Morocco. The population of the Atlas is mostly Berber.
The normal route usually starts from the town of Imlil, located 1,800 meters high, which can be reached by road from Marrakech, heading south, in just over an hour. In Imlil you can get the help of a carrier with a mule to carry your luggage to the Netler high mountain shelter that is at 3,200 m altitude. The aproach to the refuge is made in 5 h. Approximately. The activities to the summits from the refuge are about 4 hours, since they are peaks of more than 4,000 m we can find difficulties due to the altitude. The night temperatures are very low until well into spring and in summer high during the day. a guide is always recommended despite the relative ease of the routes.
Marrakech
One of the four imperial cities of Morocco, the city has the largest traditional market in the country and one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Djemaa el Fna. We´ll find acrobats, storie tellers, street sellers, dancers and musicians. At night, the square is filled with food stalls, becoming a large outdoor restaurant.
